Blogging for Scholars

In Scholarly Reflections on Blogging: Once a Tortoise, Never a Hare, Andrea Doucet lists several reasons for blogging:

  • Blogging is becoming more important to academic life
  • Blogging can be used for teaching, building community, and collaborating
  • Blogging shifts solitary scholarly writing into a more public form of communication
  • Blogging helps scholars built their platforms
  • Blogging as a genre has certain conventions. At the end of the article, she concludes that rather than being a scholarly blogger, she is a scholar who blogs.
